Georgios Karapanagiotis, a Greek artist born in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 1972. Georgios’ journey in metalwork began as a welder in France, where he contributed to the construction of the iconic RMS Queen Mary 2. Returning to Greece, he discovered his true passion for metal sculpture.
Georgios’ creations embody the resilience and strength of metal, infused with poetic storytelling. His works capture both the power and delicacy of his materials, transforming metal into dynamic, expressive forms.
The octopus sculpture, crafted from around 10,000 metal pieces with 550 suggested suction cups, powerfully demonstrates his technical precision and artistic sensitivity. This detailed artwork weighs approximately 12.3 kg and captures the liveliness and dynamism of a real octopus, realistically rendering the natural structure and movement of this sea creature.
