Karen Shahverdyan is a German-Armenian visual artist who lives and works in Germany and Greece. His works are intended to amaze, inspire, but also provoke and encourage people to question the relationship between reality and fiction as well as tradition and modernity.
After academic studies, Shahverdyan has mastered the styles and techniques of classical painting. He follows a modern approach in which mastery is not the focus, but rather is a tool with which the artist expresses new content. In his artworks, Shahverdyan abandons conventional painting, experiments with real visual elements such as landscapes, architecture, sky or people and resorts to symbols, which he then combines in unconventional, sometimes surrealistic ways.
His works are always accompanied by abstract thinking that determines the themes and forges the bond that holds the results together - sometimes as an obvious series of images, sometimes more subliminally. As a medium, the artist almost always works with oil and/or acrylic on canvas, which he primes several times beforehand.
Shahverdyan's works are exhibited at international art fairs and his works are placed in private art collections internationally.
