Sieglinde Gros is a renowned sculptor who specializes in the design of basic types as group and individual figures, using wood as her main material. With the skilful use of tools such as chainsaws and chisels, she creates works of archaic elegance, whereby the traces of processing deliberately remain visible, thus creating a profound contemplation and mystery in her works. Her figures are characterized by an indifferent expression that leaves the viewer room for diverse interpretations. Under changing lighting, they seem to reveal different emotions. Gros pays particular attention to the face, head, hands and feet, which act as carriers of expression and provide insights into the interior of the figures, stimulating questions about human nature. Her work reflects the moment when man becomes aware of his comprehensive humanistic potential. Gros creates figures that tell of humanity and compassion, and her art touches the viewer's emotional experience in a profound way.
